Speaking from experience.

I have found and ridden the series of trails roughly known as the great Western trail from Mexico to Utah. I did not know about this book until about the time I hit the Indian res. and it took months to find these trails up to that point. I would go into the different forest service offices and ask direction. and they had never heard of the trails and of no help at all. Part of the problem here is that you may find a portion of the trails marked for a ways and the trail will jump 5 to 85 miles. There is no trail other then driving down asphalt. Forest service maps are notorious for their inaccuracies and since the map was made their have been roads added or deleted and you might come to 5 unmarked intersections of the great Western trail or the trail
may have turn into some other trail altogether or there be a portion of the trail that is for walking only or some portions are for under 50 inch only vehicles, as compared to a wider 4 seater RAZ. All these details creating confusement. long and short, this book only cost 12 dollars and can save you months of frustration. I did get confused by some of the. Directions but I used the mile markers to my advantage.
I have been a little critical of the format and I realized the author was like me and just like me and trying to help out the next guy find his way because you really don't think the author got rich off this little book? If you think you can do better have at it Ed Hall @ edhall20032003@yahoo.com

Good book if you want to take to the GWT

Good explanations of each sections of the GWT in Arizona. Gives you a good feeling for the difficulty and what you will see.

I used the Coordinates in this book to review trails on Google Earth prior to running them. Found it to be accurate - and the commentary to be helpfull.
