For the past 40 years, John E. Phillips of Vestavia, Alabama, has been a fulltime outdoor writer, traveling the world interviewing captains, hunters, guides, fishermen, outfitters and other outdoorsmen about how they hunt and fish. An award-winning author, John has been hunting for many species of game and fishing for both saltwater and freshwater fish since his kindergarten days with his dad and brother. He’s had the good fortune to hunt with top outdoorsmen in about every field. He’s also traveled across the U.S. and in other parts of the world as a newspaper writer, a magazine writer, an outdoor photographer and a radio host and for the last 16 years as a provider of outdoor internet content for numerous companies daily. John also is the recipient of the 2012 Homer Circle Fishing Communicator of the Year Award from the Professional Outdoor Media Association and the American Sportfishing Association, was chosen as the 2008 Crossbow Communicator of the Year and was inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame as a Legendary Communicator in 2007. good stuff

Lots of good recipes in here. I was getting annoyed in the beginning as 90% of the recipes have nothing to do with venison, or have any in them. They are pretty good recipes for some good simple food (the best kind). About midway you hit all the venison recipes. I can't wait to try some of them. With all the frozen venison I have (and hope to get more of this season) the additional recipes are a welcome addition.

Delicious way to cook venison and what to serve with it.

I have used this book many times. I thought it was going to be a book of venison recipes only; but to my delight, it also had side dishes. It really help me know good ways to use venison and gives me sides and other dishes to put on the table. It is nice not to have to go through many books. The ones I have tried are delicious and I would definitely recommend this book. The favorite with my family was the Venison Sausage Balls (I used medium hot deer sausage instead of hot). We also like all of the appetizers using venison. I am cooking my way through this book, so I will tell you about the main courses soon. Cooking has been hard during the Holidays so I mostly made my old favorites.

I bought this book in printed form many years ago and I love it. I've used many of the recipes and they're just down-home good.
